HENDRICK'S ADVERT ANALYSIS

 â€˜Something Different, A Short Film’

Why is it important?

Paying homage to Terry Gilliams original Monty Python animation, the adverts aims to subvert what you thought you knew about gin. This is important as it ties with our brief as we wanted to pursue the recent trend in craft and flavoured gins that are appealing to a younger audience.

Angle

The angle of the advert uses the original connotations of gin to their advantage. Using vintage Victorian style imagery and warping it out of place, into something new, fresh and wacky – almost mocking the Victorian style. The advert also repeats the word repetition during the earlier part of the media, almost enforcing that gin was essentially repeating itself, hanging onto this out-dated Victorian style.

Is it successful?

I personally believe the advert achieves its aims. The advert to me is saying ‘Are you bored of the Gin you see every day? Here is an alternative, it’s a little different’. Throwing the Victorian style into space, almost saying that their gin has ascended from what we are used to. The quirky change of peoples faces enforcing that different tone. Until finally we see the new flavoured gin - Rose and Cucumber.
