BIG BRAND GIN:
BOMBAY SAPPHIRE
Name: Started off as Bombay Dry Gin. Greenall’s distillers believed they could revitalise gin. Started experimenting with other botanicals, added two more to create the floral flavour we know today. Sapphire comes from the Star of Bombay. The gem inspired the translucent blue of the Bombay bottle.
Branding: Vapour distillation is a separating point amongst the rest - the reason why Bombay is special. The brand plays on this heavily, using it on the bottle and adverts. Another strong angle of the brand would be the focus on what botanicals are being used. To accentuate the difference between Bombay and Gordon’s for example.
Marketing: “Infused with Imagination” Heavily focus’s on vapour distillation and botanicals. Marketing campaigns talk about the passion that goes into Bombay and the heritage of the company. Enforcing it’s a trustworthy company, doing it to stand out the rest as a fresh take on gin.
